About Us

Jason and I live in Jacksonville, NC, home of Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, with our two children Emiley and Brandon. Jason also has two children in Iowa, Brycen and Hailey. Originally Jason is from Iowa and I am from Florida. We have made Jacksonville our home and have been a family since 2003.

Jason has been a reptile lover since as long as anyone can remember. Twelve years ago he bought his first reptile, a caiman crocodile named Dino. I was intrigued by his obsession, and in turn, I was infected by the reptile bug when he bought me my first Savannah monitor. Well actually, they were “for the kids”, but I ended up taking care of them.

Our collection now varies from the three largest species of snakes in the world, to arboreals, monitors and dragons. We breed the warm and fuzzy too, Akitas are our preferred dog of choice and Chihuahuas are my hobby. Six months ago I started to breed my own mice and rats. I started with about 20 rats and mice now I have to many to count and babies being born every day. Emiley has her own breeding colony of hairless rats. Brandon does his best by being a good little brother and loving our Chihuahuas, Lilley and Linkin Park.

The Onslow County Herpetocultural  Educational Center

This is the future of Sterling Exotics. The plan is to build a 10,000 sqft facility that will house an indoor reptile zoo and a state of the art breeding facility.
